European Gambeson “Paladin”

Woolen jacket with detachable sleeves

Classic western gambeson is underarmor padding which fits most European medieval armor suits. External layer is made of wool, and lining is made of natural flax-linen. Padding is natural wool and cotton based batting. Gambeson will be made in accordance to your measurements.

Great choice for both SCA and reenactment fighters.

I was wanting to know if it were possible to have this made with a closed collar to work with a gorget? Awesome looking gear!!!

    ArmStreet team:

Thanks! Closed collar as here costs $20 extra. Simply add a comment to your order, and we'll send an invoice for the extra charge to your PayPal email.

I am looking to purchase a gambeson and am wondering what is the return/exchange policy if it doesn't fit me well?

    ArmStreet team:

We accept claims concerning misfits, but please be ready to provide us proofs of the accurate measurements in the form of photos with the tape measure attached.

  • Hayden Ward 22 of May 2014:

Is there any way I could have it dyed blue instead of red? The gambenson leggings do come in blue so I would like to have a matching set. I love your products and I'm planning on getting the paladin knight armor kit sometime in the near future! Thanks!

    ArmStreet team:

Can be made in dark blue for some extra, please contact us at contact@armstreet.com.

  • Conan 06 of April 2013:

How many layers of batting are in this gambeson?

    ArmStreet team:

It has one the layer of batting, its thickness is about 1.5 cm or ⅗ of an inch. For combat use, we recommend 2-3 layers. Take a look at Long cotton gambeson, its body has 3 layers of batting, and the sleeves have 2 layers of batting each.

  • Robert Freeland 19 of December 2011:

Can you have point ties added to this gambeson?

    ArmStreet team:

Yes, simply add a comment to your order. This will cost $10-15 extra, depending on how many points you need.

  • Catherine Gey 25 of August 2011:

Hello, I am interested in your "European Underarmor Gambeson Padding" but I don't understand the measure " wrist-elbow ". How to measure it? In advance thank you for your answer. Catherine Gey

    ArmStreet team:

"Wrist-elbow" = distance from wrist to elbow measured along external side.

  • Digital Squire 23 of November 2010:

Will you be listing the leg padding you describe in the armor descriptions?

    ArmStreet team:

Happy to let you know that it's listed - Medieval Arming Pants Choses!

  • Kathryn 28 of August 2009:

Hi, I am wondering how many layers are in this gambeson? Also are you able to make them to fit womens sizes?

    ArmStreet team:

It has one the layer of batting. Can be made for female, simply mention your gender in a comment to your order.

Just got the gambeson today and it fits perfectly, I have very long arms and am 6 feet four inches and they still fit it perfectly. The material is nice and the sewing is quality.
Only improvement I could suggest would be some sort of straps on the bottom to fit leg armour on.

    ArmStreet team:

Thank you, Jordan! Usually the cuisses are attached to the belt by the laces or straps.
