Asian Gambeson Padding
Long cotton padded robe with trim
This is great functional multilayered gambeson armor. A gambeson is a padded defensive jacket, worn as armour separately, or combined with mail or plate armour. Gambesons were produced with a sewing technique called quilting. Usually constructed of linen or wool with the various stuffing, such as for example scrap cloth or horse hair.
This type of gambeson fits Eastern armor suits such as lamellar or laminar armor and also “Dark Ages” — like armor. Actually this gambeson is also the great underarmour for training as it is long and has full-length sleeves.
This item can be ordered with silver or golden colour trimming or without trim.

Just got mine in earlier today Its super comfortable, really good fit (I’d recommend adding a bit extra arm room btw), looks great and is pretty warm so it makes a pretty good jacket but I also did some light sparring with it and it provides a solid amount of padding considering it’s thin padding and intended for under armor use Only issues I had is that it took ages to come, Placed order December 2d 2021 received it January 27 2022, and that it came in the wrong color, but I checked the email and apparently I put in the wrong color when ordering and when I checked it after the fact to make sure it was the right color I just missed it somehow? so that’s on me But it still looks great so I’m not super disappointed or anything But when ordering check that you ordered the right color about 300 times and be ready for it to default to black and silver just in case Overall would recommended Oh and it is a clasp gambeson so it’s open face and you close it with these really cool looking clasps it has.

I would like to add a note to a note to my previous review because i missed a detail when I first wrote it In the order confirmation is where the color mishap occurred It says black and silver in the order confirmation but when I placed the order it was in red and gold Although there’s not much that can be done at this point because I don’t really want to wait another 2 months for another to ship and this one to ship back should they offer a replacement or refund

It's a high quality gambeson! I received it quicker than I expected, and it fits very well. It even came with a couple extra clasps in case they get lost or damaged. Had only one issue in that I could not connect the topmost clasp, but that is a result of my broad shoulders which were not captured by the measurements. It fits great even without the top clasp for me, and I would definitely recommend this gambeson.

Great quality for the price. BUT it is really thin so if you want to use it for HEMA sparring etc. you need some kind of armor (like chest plate made out of composite for HEMA). Otherwise I recommend.

Hello again. In regards to my earlier comment; I'm sure it wasn't anything on your end. It might have been from me wearing a hauberk over the gambeson and the clasps coming undone from that. The zipper just seemed easier than me sewing them back on after a few attempts.

A fine gambeson and a proud piece of my current sparring armor. My only regret is that I had to replace the clasps with a hidden zipper.

I have purchased this one for my girlfriend. It is very thick but not too bulky. Wonderful look. Finishing is awesome and colour is true black. I ordered mine with an external layer of black wool and lining of black linen. Great job.

Can this be made of velvet？

Wonderful gambeson, has stood up well to multiple events and is extremely comfortable... just one question. Is it possible to wash this, maybe in a delicate cycle, or does it need to be dry cleaned? What is the recommended care? Thanks in advance!

I'm new to armor and I'm looking to purchase my first set. I once saw this being worn and fell in love with it, but then I saw in the description that it fits Eastern and Dark Age armors. Does this mean that other armors won't fit over-top of it, or was it more of a reference to its aesthetic?

Would it be possible to have this gambeson with a slit down the middle of the back starting at the waist? Kind of like a jacket.

Is it possible to get this with no sleeves? And extra layer of padding?
The gambeson can be made with no sleeves, simply add this to the comments to your order.
We cannot add an extra layer of padding, as this gambeson has already three layers of batting for the body part, and two layers for sleeves. Adding an extra layer will make it too hard and almost impossible to move while wearing it.
Can you make it with leather straps and buckles instead of the clasps? Maybe 5 or 6 straps down the center?

Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to order this particular gambeson with a quartile look to it ( like 2 squares red, 2 squares white). I saw you guys can play around with color, and wondered if that'd be too intricate, or if it was doable. Thanks!
Technically it's possible, we can make Combat Gambeson, European Gambeson Paladin and European Gambeson with 2 Colors Option with a quartile look for $30 extra. But we do not recommend such upgrade for oriental style gambesons, since miparti/quartile design belongs to the Western European fashion.
Hello, Is it possible to make it to 1 layer on arms, and 2 layers on body so it looks less bulky? I like the fitment of European gambeson, but I like this Asian style. If its possible, will the price be different? Thank you in asvance.

Does this gambeson come with "points" or laces on the shoulders to attach spaulders? The spaulders I own have a strip of leather at the top with a bar and prong like a belt. Just wondering if I could attach these spaulders to this specific gambeson. Thanks!

Body - three layers of batting, and sleeves - two layers.
