Merino wool and silk fabric Rus pants

These pants are a twin brother of our “Oleg the Mercenary” Rus pants, made of premium natural materials: 70% merino wool and 30% tussah silk, creating a perfect combination of a pleasant tweed grainy structure and dry, shape-holding properties. Our designer thinks it is an ideal material for this design, and we couldn’t agree more.

These pants draw inspiration from authentic early medieval Rus silhouettes, characterized by generous fabric use and a lot of volume. Constructed to sit comfortably at the waist, they are secured with a twine drawstring that allows for an adjustable fit. The cut tapers elegantly from the knee downward, where the fabric gathers into a narrower cuff, creating the signature profile often associated with Viking-era attire.

Historically, this style was complemented by leg wraps that twisted tightly around the lower leg and fastened with small hooks, pins, or ties. Alternatively, leather boots could be worn to cover the lower portion, offering both protection and visual balance.
