“Fairy Tale” Woolen Hood

They say that all of the best rumours will eventually become fairy tales. People are drawn in with stories of dark shapes that stalk through the forest, otherworldly women emerging from lakes, and mysterious yet enticing creatures that appear in the night… it makes you wonder if anything is truly beautiful if it isn’t also mysterious.

Our “Fairy Tale” collection embodies the grace and intrigue of the creatures often described in folktales. It is simple and flattering, yet also stunningly crafted and finished with some of the most eye-catching embroidery we have ever designed. Made from soft, warm wool, this hood is plush and not scratchy like a lot of other wools. Just to make sure you are extra comfortable, we have lined the hood with our 100% flax linen which also gives it a little bit of texture inside and helps the hood stay up on your head when you’re using it to protect yourself from the sun or rain. The hood is quite generous in size, and will easily save you from the elements.

This isn’t a typical little historical hood that only covers your head and a bit of your shoulders. It drapes to below your chest and almost covers you as much as a little cloak, meaning you’ll stay much warmer during the chilly seasons! It flares out slightly over your shoulders and sits open at the front, so it doesn’t entirely cover up the beautiful clothing you are wearing underneath, but still shields you from the wind. The hood is secured with a gorgeous pair of embroidered buttons up near your neck along with two loops.

The embroidery on this hood and the rest of the “Fairy Tale” collection happens to be some of the most ornate, complicated embroidery we have ever designed. None of it is machine-done, it is all painstakingly adorned by our expert seamstresses by hand over the course of many hours. The design is based on our original “Fairy Tale” dress design, but has been expanded upon. It depicts the snaking stems of plants growing upwards and across the bottom from a pretty flower at the base of the hood. The vines are accented with beautiful little blooms that add contrast and fill in any gaps. All of the edges are expertly finished as well, with the exposed seam on the inside of the hood reenforced with linen tape to ensure the garment has a long life. All of the hems, including the bottom, middle, and all around the hood are finished with additional embroidery to really frame the piece.
