Tooled Arm Armor “Bird of Prey”
Rerebraces, vambraces, elbow couters set
Undoubtedly a skilled swordsman favors mobility and maneuverability in combat, rather than cumbersome protection, so especially for the brave hero of “Bird of Prey” collection we've made these lite leather arm armour, reinforced with hidden splints. Both rerebrace and vambrace are accomplished with formed 18 ga stainless bars. Splints belong to the so-called transition armor, which was used in the 14th and early 15th century during the integration from chain mail to plate armor, and combines the advantages of these two species, being quite strong, but light.
Our store is full of affordable splint armour specimens, so this time we relished decorating them as it befits knightly harness. The whole arm harness is made of thick hand painted veg-tanned leather. We didn't chase after serious authenticity, however, developed an authentic-looking ornithomorphic ornament depicting birds and plants, that covers the entire outer shell of the rerebraces and vambraces. The elegant pattern is complemented by dozens of flower-shaped cast brass rivets. When worn with padding clothes, splint arm armor provides excellent protection against hits you may get with rebated steel or rattan weapons. The splint rerebraces have holes at their upper ends to mount them to your padded gambeson with arming points.
Closed conical elbows are the main hook of this set. All-metal couter covers projecting joint and moreover the elbow pit. Its cusped shape resembles the imminent approach of the German Gothic style, while fluted edging strengthens the construction. All pieces of the arm armor are moveable and dismountable, so the elbows couters can be worn separately with any other vambraces. Thick leather straps with hand-cast buckles are included.
