At ArmStreet, we’ve been taking our children to medieval events with us for years. We totally understand the struggle of making medieval clothes and accessories that feel comfortable but also look great, which is why we decided that it was time to release a full collection! “First Adventure” provides you with a choice of stylish, comfy clothes and accessories that your children are going to love.
This little cap is inspired by the historical “St Brigitta’s Cap”, a piece that first appeared towards the end of the XIII century in the famous Maciejowski Bible. We love this design because it fits into other time periods without looking out of place (it’s a bit like a feminine medieval bandana), and looks fantastic! A head covering like this would be found on a lot of different people, from princesses to farm girls, and we know that your little adventurer will craft their own character around it, too. Hats are a great way to get into character and shift your mindset into being a medieval villager and away from just being a modern person wearing a costume.
We have taken a few liberties to make this cap a bit more comfortable for modern wearers, such as drawstrings at the back to help you get the perfect fit. These strings are designed slightly different from the historical version to make putting it on easily, and can then be wrapped around your head twice and secured to complete the look. We have used our fine flax linen to construct this headpiece, which is the perfect choice of fabric to wick away swear and sit softly next to your face.
