“Sea Born” Undertunic

The undertunic is based on a historical pattern, which we have updated (in the usual ArmStreet fashion) to be comfortable for the modern wearer. This collection is for those who like to meander across the beach and wander through the waves, lost in the beauty of the ocean. Even though we designed this to be a medieval item, we have no doubt that it would be right at home on the beach as a swimsuit cover!
This garment is intended to be an underdress, worn under your outer clothing and protecting it from sweat to reduce the amount of laundering required. Because it’s underclothes, we’ve made it from our fine flax linen, which is a finer weave than the slightly thicker linen we use for our outer clothes. It’s breathable, sweat-wicking, and becomes very soft once you’ve worn it.
This tunic has a high waist, with the seam sitting in the middle of your bust, draping down over your waist to the floor. The cut at the front is v-shaped, not coming down too low but still creating a nice neckline. The way the sleeves are cut gives you lots of underarm movement, meaning you’re welcome to dance across the sands of the beach without fear of being encumbered by tight shoulders.
The sleeves are closely based on an authentic pattern, and are extra long and rather narrow! If you put the tunic on and leave the sleeves as they are, they will hang down below your hands, so we advise either rolling them up or pull them up and gather them above your wrist, distributing the extra fabric along your arm.
This is a very nicely constructed garment, with neat, even seams, and finishing touches such as a beautiful topstitch along the neckline in a slightly thicker thread for a subtle textural contrast.

The shirt is pleasant to wear. The sleeves were a little too tight around the forearms (widest part, size 16). I cut the sleeves above the elbow and now I could dance and twirl on the beach quietly. Next time I'll order the sleeves wider ( and a little shorter, a hem at ground level it's not very practical). Super comfortable.

Madeline 22 of November 2021:Exactly as described and fits perfectly. I didn’t wear it on the festival day just because it was too warm out but this coming winter it will be perfect under my dress!
