Edwardian Skirt “Fleur-de-Lis”

High waisted stretch wool maxi skirt

Long Edwardian skirts travel through history and time, acquiring new fabrics and colors. Elongated lines of this skirt provide ephemeral fragility, making the female silhouette look like a statuette.

A-line skirt combined with a waterfall of folds on the matching coat reminds bustle dresses, typical of the late Victorian fashion. It’s rather tight at the waist area, gently hugs the widest part of the hips, and then gradually expands down to the knees. Right there the line breaks harder, flaring out from midway down, referring to the trumpet skirt - a very conservative and appropriate style of all times.

Below the enshrined folds, back portion of the skirt expands as a peacock tail and becomes very wide - it's almost three times wider than the front portion. With a quick turn, the train creates that spirally twisted silhouette, glorified by fashion illustrators of those years.

If you're in need of warm maxi skirt for the cold season, here's a beautiful choice. It is made of stretch wool simulating fine woolen cloth. The lining is made of stretch nylon. Front closure features 24 tiny buttons, covered with satin of complementary color, and 24 satin loop buttonholes - in those days the elegance still required some effort.

Couple it with a laced blouse or a slim-waisted coat for a romantic feel. Fusion of style and functionality, it's a great option to wear for a special occasion and for everyday life.

Remember to provide the desired length of the skirt measured from your natural waist down to the very bottom edge. If you're going to wear the skirt with high heels, please specify the height of the heel in a comment to your order. Check the skirt size and hips circumference correspondence below. Go for a larger one if you're between two sizes:

  • size 0 - 33 7/8-36 1/4" (86-92 cm)
  • size 2 - 36 5/8-39 3/8" (93-100 cm)
  • size 4 - 39 3/4-42 1/8" (101-107 cm)
  • size 6 - 42 1/2-45 1/4" (108-115 cm)
