“Wayward Knight” Ornamental Mace
Decorative blackened mild steel blunt weapon
Historically, maces were used ceremonially, but were also an excellent weapon. Lightweight, and with most of their bulk lying in the head of the mace, they had deadly percussive force behind them and were an excellent way to hit enemies from horseback. This mace is a fantasy combination of a few different historical prototypes. The design of the spherical head itself is quite reminiscent of eastern style designs and can be observed in a few examples from the Ottoman empire. On the other hand, the rondel-dagger-like grip, rondel and pommel lean towards being more central European. These aesthetics all work together to create a magnificent ornamental weapon that looks fantastic.
The striking blackened tone of this mace is achieved through chemical blackening, which requires a base material of mild steel and allows us to finish it with deep, rich color. While the blackening does make it a little bit more susceptible to attractive surface rust, in the long term it does protect the mace from deep, structural damage. If you’re not loving the blackened finish, it can also be made in plain mild steel with a satin or mirror finish.
The head of the mace has six faces, and is a beautiful, sculptural shape. They are masterfully welded together and slope down to a steel ring, which connects to the rest of the mace. The handle of the mace is a 2mm thick steel pipe, finished with a stunning rondel and grip. The handle of this mace is similar to a rondel dagger, and is sure to keep your hand protected! The grip is wrapped in flattened brass wire and feels very comfortable in the hand. Additional steel rings come together under the grip to create the pommel, which is nice and sculptural like the head, and brings everything together quite nicely.
This mace looks excellent as an ornamental or even ceremonial piece. It looks beautiful in photography or video, and looks just like the real thing! Please keep in mind that this whole weapon is hollow and is not intended to be used for combat, or to hit anything. It should not be swung at any object or person, to avoid doing damage to yourself, your property, or others. In the event that you do cause any damage with this mace, ArmStreet takes no liability.

Could you supply this with red cord wrap and not blackened finish?
Hi Jesse, yes we can make it without blackening, but it is not possible to change the brass wire, sorry.
