Buckler Shield “Hound Of War”
Leather-covered steel buckler, 15"
The leather-covered buckler is a light shield from the “Hound Of War” collection. Bucklers of this type were known back from the Germanic and Celtic tribes. This type of medieval shields has been very popular in the 12-18th centuries until it was supplanted by rondel dagger. Used both for protection and giving out blows, buckler developed a reputation as essential part of the swordsman’s equipment.
This heavy duty buckler is crafted of sturdy 14 gauge steel. Its front is covered in genuine leather, while the back features a steel handle, riveted and wrapped in rope. The buckler features a solid securely riveted scalloped boss, steel rolled edges and a hook for hanging on a belt.
Leather buckler is ideal for group foot combat and for a swordplay. Comfortable and durable, it’s well suited to attacking tactics of warfare. Runs great in combination with single handed sword or a falchion.
