Gothic Sallet Helmet
Sallet with a movable visor, 15th century
This knight's helmet has three main distinctive features: a segmented neck guard, a longitudinal stiffening rib that looks like a comb, and a movable half visor. The elongated neck guard consists of four plates; its tapered shape pointed at the end was inherent to German Gothic sallet helmets. The lower edge of the eye slot slightly protrudes when the visor is down, protecting the eyes from the impact. When closed, the visor can be fixed with a spring lock. Both the neck guard and the visor feature rolled and ridged bottom edges.
Sallets were worn with a bevor or a gorget attached to a cuirass to protect the neck and jaw. Their advantage is the ability to tilt and turn the head, while the neck guard and the bevor perfectly protect the neck and lower face without hindering the breath.
We've made this gothic sallet out of 14 gauge stainless steel. It's cold forged, so it holds very well; it features quality dishing and fine border finishing.
Sallet was popular among all medieval combatants. The only difference was that knights preferred visored versions, while infantrymen wore open-face helmets.

Can you make it so the king makers bevor can go with this? And get rid of the bronze edging of the bevor?
Hello Lukas, yes, they are compatible and all alterations are possible.
Does the Medieval Sallet Functional Armor Helmet come with a leather harness on the inside, or would we have to provide our own padding? I am very interested in this helmet, but I am not certain on this.
The sallet comes with padding like all of our helmets, but it is not a leather harness. You can see how padding looks like in the photos attached.
The sallet is incomplete without the gorget. Do you include the gorget with the helm?
The gorget is not included, this listing is for the helmet only.
Do you make & sell the bevor that gose with this sallet. What is the price.
We don't produce the matcing bevor for today, sorry.
