“Evening Star” Gorget

Don’t cross the evening star - she’s brave and bold, and is always quick to take action. She prefers to conduct her business in the cool breeze after dusk, and there are very few who can say they’ve had the privilege of being in her inner circle.

The “Evening Star” collection is sleek, striking, and designed to make you feel utterly unstoppable. Created specifically for the female figure, this set of armor is lightweight and moves with you, meant to feel like a protective second skin as opposed to a heavy, encumbering set of armor.

The instantly noticeable part of this design is the fitted and articulated aspects, which are largely inspired by the late XIV-XV centuries. Armor in this time period became more sophisticated - especially if the person buying it had a handsome fee to pay the blacksmith - and much easier to move around in. We imagine that a fitted set like this one would have been purchased by a noble or a wealthy knight, as it would have taken quite a skilled blacksmith quite a lot of time to produce something of such quality.

A gorget provides much-needed protection to your neck, collar bones, and the very top of your spine. This particular gorget is quite solid but still relatively flexible, giving you room to move your neck and remain alert. The main piece is a 1.2mm thick solid plate that covers the front of your chest and up to your neck, with an additional 1mm floating plate connected with leather to guard higher on your neck. The very top of the plate is trimmed in leather to prevent the steel from rubbing on your skin, as well as around the bottom of the piece as well. On one of the sides of the gorget, you will find a hinge, with a push-pin mechanism used on the other side to lock it closed.

This piece is crafted from spring steel and incredibly strong material that goes through a process of annealing to become hardened. It’s stronger than mild, and even stainless steel, which means we can actually craft the armor to be much thinner than we have in previous collections. Because the armor is thinner, it is more comfortable, lighter, and easier to move in.

This gorget has a blackened finish to it, though our "Dark Star" "Morning Star" and "Evening Star" collections all offer similar gorgets in different color schemes and metal finishes!
