Cloak pin "Hussar"
Brass Etched Fibula
Eastern European design has so many beautiful patterns! Everything from art to clothing is full of fantastic images that are eye-catching and inspiring. We love exploring the history of Eastern Europe, mostly because we originate from there ourselves, but also because we can’t help but be fascinated with all of the amazing artefacts. The Polish Hussars have been of particular interest to us recently, due to their extravagant wings and brutal fighting style.
This collection was meant to be mobile and functional… but we couldn’t help but add a few beautiful little accents in to finish it off! After all - wearing armour is important, but so is looking great and feeling good about yourself. This is the fibula we designed to match the armour of the collection. You’ll notice that it’s made of similar materials, and the designs etched into it echo that on the armour to create a cohesive look.
This is made from brass, which has been cut to the perfect shape and dished. The artwork you see on the fibula is inspired by Eastern European engravings. Instead of hand engraving it, though, we have used our etching and blackening technology to achieve a finish that appears similar to engraving, but is more precise. This fibula has two pieces, connected by two robust chains so that it can be used to connect two pieces of a cloak (or animal skin).
