Knight Templar Tunic

Medieval Crusader tunic with red cross

Once again a violent and exhausting battle is over. A camp has been already set up and flavors of the food being prepared, a smoky scent of the campfires, that cast their hazy light on knight tunics of passers by, and a sharp spicy one of men - all  become combined to a familiar, strangely calming, reminding of incense, mix. All scents remind of incense here..

A pause will be brief, tomorrow the knights – shadows in the dawn’s uneven light, bearing the flaming crosses on their chests – will resume their way to the East. Through the desert and drought, under the fiery sun they will go to defend the Temple – the House of God, and those who venture forth on a pilgrimage to it.

Heroic deeds and mysteries, power and lifelong service for the glory of God are what wait for a man who has accepted the knighthood. But to be merely called a knight is not enough. In their thoughts and actions knights were expected to be faultless, and also (not that excessive attention to mundane matters was encouraged) they were supposed to have a decent appearance. According to the Templar rule, a knight tunic must be of proper size, simple in cut and monochromatic – to avoid the display of immoderation and arrogance.

Knight natural cotton tunic

Our crusader tunic is a basic piece of medieval knights’ wardrobe. Made of natural cotton fabric, it is suited for a hot summer day as well as for the torrid afternoon of the Eastern desert. The tunic is T-shaped and has a split neckline, which ensures that the neck opening will fit over the knight’s head (although a helmet will probably get stuck). A hem of the Templar tunic reaches just below the knees, so one more slit is added to the front in order to ease the walking. Optionally, a woolen Knights Templar cross, red as it is a symbol of martyrdom, can be sewn onto the chest of the tunic, otherwise it can be done as a simple knight tunic without appliques.

By default this knight tunic is made as a new-looking garment, but it is also available with an artificial aging option, where details of real well-worn Knight Templar’s clothes are reproduced, including crumpled fabric, rust stains, cuts and rips, received in the Crusade battles.

The Templar tunic is produced as a made-to-measure item, so please do not forget to specify your measurements in the order form.

The belt, pants and boots are not included but available separately in our store.

Please contact us if you have any additional questions.

Hi, I was just wondering about the size of the Knight Templar Tunic, I'm a pretty big guy in the 3xl area, would it fit? Or do you have any suggestions for big guys? :) Thanks for your time

  • Brian 24 of January 2017:

So I have a bit of a specific request. I wanted to know if this tunic could be made sleeveless and with wool. I was looking at the tabard but I'd prefer this since it actually encloses the body.

    ArmStreet team:

The tunic can be made sleeveless, just mention that in the comment to your order, but we cannot make it in wool due to technical reasons, sorry.

  • Devin 29 of July 2016:

  • Marc 26 of July 2014:

Would I be able to get this with a black cross as opposed to a red one? I've been looking for Teutonic Knight tunics but nowhere seems to have them. Not with sleeves, anyway.

    ArmStreet team:

Yes, the tunic can be made with black cross, simply add a comment to your order.
