Gothic Armor Kit “Black Knight”

Fantasy ribbed gorget and pauldrons set

Have a look and tremble, because here comes the most beloved set of armor of 2-in-1 kind, which is big with the customers of ours for almost 10 years! Imbued with its popularity, we decided to give it its dues, so we assigned it with a new perk name of “Black Knight”, arranged a photo shoot to update the pictures, and even produced a matching style arm armour so you can complete the set. But first things first.

So, this fantasy set includes all one needs to protect the shoulder joint, neck, and throat - king-size pauldrons with multiple segments and a gorget with standing collar. The pauldrons are provided with vertical plates designed to prevent the weapon blade from slipping to the neck when striking the shoulder. The swordbreakers are attached to the main cup by means of scalloped edges and rivets; they can be removed upon request to stick to historical accuracy. Above the main cup there is one, and below - four movable bands of plates added to protect the upper arm. There are leather buckled straps on the lower plate - adjust the fit and do not worry about fixation anymore. The axillary cavities are covered with fancy besegews, resembling gothic style armour with their ribs and pointed shape.

The gorget with stand-up collar provides excellent neck protection and structurally consists of two halves - front and back. The front plate has longitudinal stiffening ribs to increase its durability. The plates are connected with a rotary locking pin. Convenience is, there are metal loops on the upper plates of the pauldrons, which can also be placed onto the locking pin head, thereby attaching the pauldrons to the gorget.

Renewed “Black Knight” combat set looks severe and truly authentic, while all its elements of thought-out, ergonomic shape do well the shock absorption.

  • RENE CHAREST 05 of January 2020:

I just purchased these, look and feel amazing by the way, I was curious if the visored Barbuta helmet or the sugarloaf helmet would work or would fit with the armor

    ArmStreet Team:

Hi Rene, yes both helmets should work.

  • George Lagow 18 of December 2018:

Could the gorget come without the high collar? I would look to pair it with the bellowed sallete helm.

    ArmStreet Team:

Hi George! Yes, it is possible, please simply leave this request in the comment to your order.

  • Andrea 19 of September 2018:

The set is composed also with the arms? Or only by the Gorget and pauldrons? Thank you very much.

    ArmStreet Team:

Hi Andrea! This listing is for the  Gorget and Pauldrons only.

  • William Merzlak 09 of August 2017:

What all comes with this entire kit here? I'm assuming it does not include the Gambeson, Legs or Girtle belt. Is this just for the Pauldrons, Gorget and Arms?

    ArmStreet Team:

Hi William, this listing is for the gorget and pauldrons only.

  • Gian Vignando 20 of November 2015:

Is this armor suitable for full-contact steel fencing? If so, is it possible to have the vertical plates removed, and the lower half of the cuirass included as well?

    ArmStreet team:

Yes, it should be suitable for full-contact steel fencing as a torso armor when worn with a padding jacket. Can be made w/o vertical plates, w/ cuirass upon request, please provide your full height, body length, chest and waist circumferences for the cuirass.

  • Casey 01 of October 2015:

What style of helm would you recommend to match this armour set?

    ArmStreet team:

An excellent choice for this gorget is Salette or Chapel helmet (without bevor). It can also be used with Barbuta or Bascinet.

  • Gian Vignando 03 of August 2015:

Is it possible to solely get the lower-haf of the cuirass by itself? If so, how much would it cost, and would it be possible to get it in 14 gauge steel?

    ArmStreet team:

The cuirass cannot be made of 14 ga steel, sorry. It comes in 16 ga only, $270 + $69 (shipping) for mild steel, or $350 + $69 (shipping) for stainless steel. Breastplate and backplate, as pictured.

  • Alan 31 of July 2015:

Hi Team, Beautiful looking set. Would it be possible for you to build your lower half-cuirass with a fauld and/or tassets? If so, then how much for stainless?

    ArmStreet team:

The cuirass can be made with two front tassets for $150 extra (16 ga stainless steel). Simply add a comment to your order.

  • Sean Barfoot 14 of July 2015:

Hi, I'm just enquiring as to whether you would be willing to sell just one of these shoulders. A costume I'm making requires asymmetrical pauldrons, and I want this as one of them plus onefrom another set that you sell .

    ArmStreet team:

This is discussable. Could you please send us email with both models you are interested in so we can calculate the total of your order?

  • Adam Clark 28 of June 2015:

How do you attach the pauldrons to the arms is there a buckle underneath or what?

    ArmStreet team:

Pauldrons and arms are not attached to each other.

You attach them with the laces on your arming clothes, as shown here. Simply sew a pair of laces on each shoulder, making an "arming points". We use thin leather laces for this.

Armor arms are held in place by adjustable straps and the laces, as pictured.

  • Richard Lowrey 06 of August 2014:

I like the darker look depicted here, what type of finish did you use on these?

    ArmStreet team:

It's just the lighting effect, the armor set shown at the photos was made of mild steel, mirror polishing.

  • bryce 28 of March 2013:

Just curious what gauges it comes with? Is the price listed for 16 gauge?

    ArmStreet team:

Basically comes in 16 ga (1.5 mm) mild (cold-rolled) steel.

  • Samael 13 of March 2012:

out of curiosity, how much for just the shoulders?

    ArmStreet team:

The pauldrons separately costs $180 + $55 (shipping).

  • David Mesimer 13 of April 2011:

Actually do arms attach to spaulders in some fashion

    ArmStreet Team:

Hi David, arms should be tied to gambeson with arming points.

  • Louis-Philip Arsenault 18 of February 2011:

Just before I order, I want to know if this kit is ready for battle. Do I need to take the measurements wearing my gambeson. Is it possible to have it in 16 ga cold-rolled steel, with a shiny finish, without the vertical plates on spaulders. Thank's

    ArmStreet team:

Yep, it's combat ready. Measurements in gambeson are very appreciated for good fit.
16 ga cold-rolled steel with mirror polishing w/o haute plates - no problems.

  • choasbringer 24 of January 2011:

do you offer the gorget without the pauldrons and what size neck does the gorget fit max?

    ArmStreet team:

The gorget separately costs $180 + $36 (shipping). It's custom sized, simply provide your neck circumference.

  • Evan Ellis 25 of April 2010:

Does this set include the arms?

    ArmStreet team:

This listing is for the gorget and spaulders only.
You can order the arms here.

  • Paul Kress 22 of April 2010:

I noticed the arms, lower half curiass and chain shirt are not shown in your normal store inventory. I have taken a liking to the entire depiction and am wondering if you are carrying all those items still. If so I would love a price quote for the set.

    ArmStreet team:

    The lower-half cuirass costs $270 + $69 (shipping).
We do not produce chain mail for sale, sorry.

  • Aaron Conner 27 of January 2010:

How much would it be if you made it out of 18 gauge stainless steel?rnrnThanks

    ArmStreet:

No difference in price, 18 ga even more complicated in dishing then 16 ga.

  • Cliff Barr 21 of October 2009:

How much would it cost to include the arms pictured with the gorget and spaulders? Also, is the set polished? Can I get it mirror polished?

    ArmStreet team:

Arm armor is not included, but can be purchased separately in our store here.
The set is polished, mirror polshing is available upon request.

Just wore this set for the first time. The tassets far exceeded my expectations, you can see the pride they put in their work. This is a truly princely set with a lot of thought put into it. Thanks, Armstreet!
