Errant Squire II Articulated Cuirass with Tassets

Improved stainless steel chest protection

Our Paladin collection is one of our oldest and most loved sets of armor. We have been working on it for many years, inspired by the beauty and shine of western-style armor and the valiant personalities of knights in mythology. This set leans towards a late XV century aesthetic, a time of knights, mercenaries, and many battles.

This is the third generation of our paladin cuirass, which means we have improved upon it greatly as our experience has grown over time. This rendition of the cuirass has much better flexibility and allows you to move much better. The main reason for this is it has many additional points of articulation, such as under the armpits, to allow for better ease of movement as you fight.

The top and the bottom part of the cuirass are connected with a sliding rivet, making it easier to bend over and move around. The front and the back of the cuirass are connected with leather straps and buckles. The backplate is finished in a number of attractive points around the shoulder blades, which makes for quite a handsome look. From the breastplate portion of the cuirass, you’ll find a series of faulds. Faulds cover your stomach and upper legs and are articulated so that you can still move, kneel down and bend over.

This is a foot combat harness opposed to a riding harness – the main differentiating factor is that it has tassets at the back, which you would not have if you were riding a horse. There are five tassets in total, which can be easily removed and reattached as you see fit.

This cuirass is constructed from quality materials, with the main material being stainless steel. Stainless steel is strong, lustrous, and is much easier to keep clean than other varieties of steel. Gone are the days where you have to spend the whole weekend polishing your armor – just give it a wipe down with a soft cloth after fighting practice and you should be good to go. The leather straps are made from strong, quality leather that will hold up well and stand the test of time.

It also has several fine details, such as a beautiful roped edge (constructed from twisted wire) which gives it a little bit of a fancy finish, medieval-style buckles (opposed to modern buckles, which you will find on some armor), and solid brass rivets, which are as beautiful as they are functional. Overall, we believe this to be a very impressive piece of armor that will hopefully fit in well with the rest of your collection.

Important note about measurements: please take into account that we need your measurements in gambeson, choses or other under-armour gear you are planning to use with this armor. My errant squire cuirass has been an excellent part of my entirely Armstreet full harness for 2 year now. Armstreet continues to have great communication and quality for the cost in my opinion. I appreciate that the waist tailoring of the armor takes some weight off my shoulders. The separate upper cuirass and lower plackart greatly helps with mobility and balance. The workmanship is high quality from the rope boarder, to add to the look but also act as a small stopgap for thrusts, to the brass belt loops which add some character. It integrated fine with other armor and arming jacket elements I had already. This is a great value item because it actually work well, made specifically for you, but you also are not paying for the fancier fluting and brass etc. If I had one upgrade/change it would be to add a belt option to secure the upper and lower sections as was sometimes done historically. Stainless steel is a good low maintenance option for those accepting of those tradeoffs. 5/5 Best wishes in 2024 Armstreet and Ukraine
