“Old Gods” Fantasy Viking Belt

Two tones multipurpose leather war belt

This amazing belt is more than just visually stunning: it has a variety of uses, both on the battlefield and off. While we haven’t based it on any historical find, we do imagine this to be something that a viking may have used in some version of reality. The actual inspiration comes from modern tactical belts, which allow you to attach new weapons and bags with ease. With viking aesthetic and modern design in mind, we developed this fantastic belt that will protect you in battle as well as come in very handy when it comes to storing things!

This belt consists of three pieces: the main belt, made from thick hide leather. It is 12cm in width and includes beautiful knot work embossing, as well as loops for the two thinner belts, decorated with viking styles wolf knotwork. The loops themselves are hand-stitched down and are very robust. The other two parts of the belt are the two thinner white belts, each 2cm in width, made from a slightly softer saddle leather. The white contrasts excellently with the darker thick belt, making for a striking piece! The thinner belts are both finished with hand cast buckles made to the viking motif, as well as knot work etching which is continued down the belt with deep embossing. Kindly note that the etched accents will match the selected clasp. Therefore, if you choose the brass fastening option, the etched accent will also be brass, whereas the nickel-plated brass will come with a steel accent. We consider this belt to be a well-finished work of art - there is care in every stitch!

We imagine that this would be a great addition to any viking-style kit in the SCA or those fighting with rebated steel swords. It protects your kidney area quite well and is thick enough to take a blow. The way we’ve made the belt will allow you to hang pretty much anything off of it - bags, pouches, sheathes, frogs, weapons, a cool piece of foliage you found in the woods… simply loosen one of the thinner belts and slip anything underneath it, or remove the belt from the loops and attach your bags. Alternatively, if it’s a warm day or you’re simply not in the mood to wear a thick belt, you can remove any of the two thinner belts to wear on their own.
