The wait is over, and you can finally experience medieval events with your little ones in tow, dressed in full ArmStreet just like you! Our “First Adventure” collection is designed by parents for kids, and has been tried and test by our own children to make sure it’s fashionable, comfy, durable and ready for adventure. Made by the same seamstresses who create our premium adult clothing, our kid's collection still has that signature ArmStreet attention to detail and quality.

These pants are made to go with any kind of tunic or dress and are constructed from a simple pattern that will look good with medieval styles. There’s no specific historical basis here - we just wanted to make something that kids could run around and move in without looking out of place with the rest of their costume. These are long, straight pants (neither flared nor tapered), with drawstrings at the bottom of the legs so they can be styled in two different ways. With the drawstrings done up, they resemble more modern sweat pants, and with them untied they look like regular straight let pants. The pants are a little bit longer than they need to be so that they don’t look cropped and allow for a bend in the knee and some flexibility when the drawstring is done up.

The fit at the hips is loose to allow for as much movement as possible, but do keep in mind that these are made from woven cotton, not modern knit fabric so they will not stretch like athletic pants! We chose to make them from this robust cotton because it is brilliantly colorful, hardwearing, and breathable, making it the perfect textile. It is the same high-quality fabric that we use on some of our beautiful dresses and tunics, and all seams have been finished using all of the manufacturing technologies and specialist skills to make sure they stand the test of time.

Do keep in mind that medieval clothing feels a little bit different for modern kids. They’re used to fabrics that stretch, which makes them easy to get in and out of. Medieval-style textiles are more rigid and don’t allow for quite as much movement, and because of this, they can sometimes feel like they fit a little bit strangely compared to what they’re used to. We recommend having a conversation with your children before they wear them so that they understand that cotton pants feel a bit more like thick, non-stretch jeans opposed to Jersey and knitted fabrics, just so they’re prepared to wear something a little bit different.

Pay attention to one important thing: most kids, especially when it comes to smaller ones, are used to wearing way softer clothing, which is usually made of extremely soft and stretch fabric. So there is a chance your kid won't be happy dealing with medieval clothes limitations and natural fabric early on. As we experimented on our own kids, statistically all of them get used to this after a while – normally when linen gets softer and shapes a tad on the owner's body. But please be very conscious about it in the beginning and make sure your kid is really comfortable with the medieval costume. We tried our best to make this clothing as comfortable and loose and flowing as possible, but natural fabric and ancient patterns have their disadvantages, so the final decision is on you: we can't guarantee that any kid will be comfortable wearing our medieval clothes.
