“From the fury of the Northmen deliver us, O Lord.”

“Bjorn the Broadsword” Coat

Viking men's woolen coat kaftan

This is traditional viking coat, also known as "Kaftan". This design is based on several findings, it has no strict prototype but both look and patterns are based on Bikra findings

Coat is made of 100% natural woolen fabric with flax linen lining and natural sackcloth woolen/linen mixture fabric bordering. Additionally coat is decorated with period looking trim with Norman motifs (this trim has been designed and manufactured by us for our Norman clothes).

Front slit is overlapping to protect coat owner from wind and cold. It has 4 handmade casting buttons (plus extra button if you miss one)

This is a perfect coat for chilly nights and great looking part of your Viking wardrobe.

Materials:

  • Natural wool
  • Flax lining
  • Sackcloth (wool/linen) borders
  • Original trim
  • Casting handmade buttons

Coat features:

  • Natural materials
  • Historically accurate look
  • Comfortable sleeve pattern
  • Overlapping front slit with handmade buttons
  • Sackcloth bordering

Birka Coat design

Please note that dark blue wool has a very dark shade, that may appear black under electric light indoors.

Comments

Alexander Clark:

Can the sackcloth borders be made in other colors?

ArmStreet team:

We have this fabric in one colour only, sorry.

Aaron Humphreys:

Greetings. I am looking to purchase a couple of these. Can you please verify the currency in use on your site? I am assuming this is USD, however it does not say. Also, I noticed in the above comments that you way Red Wine Woolis no longer available, is this still the case since it is an option above? Also, do you have photos showing the Red Wool for comparison?

ArmStreet team:

Prices shown on the site are in U.S. Dollars (USD). Red Wine wool is now available, you are welcome to order the coat in that colour :)
Here is the coat made of Red wool for comparison.

Ben Moorehi:

Hi there the coat is beautiful i am just wondering if it could also be made going straight down in one length like a modern overcoat rather? than being triangle and skirt shaped towards the bottom. With the trimmings still there

ArmStreet team:

Thank you for your kind words! The silhouette of the coat can`t be changed as it would require complete change of the pattern, sorry.

Tom:

Hi I was wondering if this could be made without any trimming? I would like to add my own card weaving without having to unpick an existing trim. Many thanks!

ArmStreet team:

Yes, can be made without the narrow trim (brown trim with Viking pattern), but with the sackcloth borders (natural color). You're welcome to order via the site, simply add a comment about the trim to your order.

Johan Hesselbäck:

Hi! First of all I want to say you have an amazing collection of viking clothes! I'm a satisfied customer since before and now I'm going to expand my wardrobe with your clothes even further. I have two questions though; why isn't the wine-red color of Viking Kaftan Coat “Bjorn the Broadsword” (as shown in the pictures) available to choose? When are you finished with your new collection of tents? Best regards Johan Hesselbäck

ArmStreet team:

Thank you! Wine red wool is not available anymore, sorry. We keep making this model, but in colors which are available at the moment.

Nick Walker:

Beautiful coat, great construction, and came right on time! Thanks!

Erik:

Greetings, I am interested in your "Viking Woolen Coat Kaftan “Bjorn the Broadsword”," but am curious as to what the back looks like. Is there a split up the bottom of the back to the waist, enabling "horse-riding" per say? Thanks for any information ahead of time!

ArmStreet team:

Basically there is no such split on the back, but we can make it for free, simply add a comment to your order.
