Etched Blackened Buckler
Small fist shield for hand-to-hand combat
A buckler is a small fist shield that was one of the most popular attributes of European fencers of the Middle Ages. Despite its size, this shield turned out to be extremely useful during duels and was widely used both for defense and to attack.
Bucklers were very convenient: one could carry a buckler in everyday life without any noticeable discomfort.
These small shields were spread almost everywhere, since this design provides the warrior with quite good protection and mobility. Although the mentions of these fist shields are found in the Celtic and the Frankish heritage, it is considered that bucklers appeared in Byzantium and in the Middle East and gained recognition and popularity.
This buckler is very light - only 730 g (1,6 lb) and is made of blackened hardened spring steel. The floral etching and the black boss give a unique look that will definitely stand out. The edges of the buckler are reinforced with a twisted metal wire for safety reasons and to make it more robust.

1. Very well made, with no sharp edges or flaws. 2. Lightweight; similar bucklers on the market are typically over 1,000g. 3. Extremely attractive appearance, with the brass rivets contrasting against the blackened surface. 4. Beautiful etching. 5. Very solid and comfortable grip.
