There are many ways to play with swords and some like it this way – with steel blades you can thrust with. So, some of the sword-fight practitioners in the house have been begging for a helmet with a perforated visor for years. Now we are happy to unveil this fancy, hardened, and blackened version made of spring steel.
We offer two basic versions with a 1.5 mm (~16 ga) top for a lighter weapon, which is perfect for heavy HEMA grades weapons like Polish sabers, messers, feders, and so on, and a 2.00 mm (~14 ga) top version which would be the best for those who play with longswords. Both go with a 2 mm perforated hardened visor to ensure the durability and safety of the most important part. The visor is removable: taking pins out of hinges allows you to take it away completely.
We used one of our most beautiful and comfortable helmet sallet tops as a basic shape, with beautiful removable side hinge pins and a visor lock. This helmet is not cheap but certain things define the top quality craftsmanship - a beautiful and anatomically perfect top shape, a perforated visor to top fit, and, most importantly, a blackened spring steel. Spring steel is a hard material to work with, and hardening and blackening are probably equal to making a helmet twice.
