Large Kingmaker Pauldrons

Fancy articulated shoulder protection with a unique besegew

The Large Kingmaker Pauldrons are the perfect pauldrons if you’re looking for decent upper arm protection that is both functional and visually stunning. Crafted from 1.5mm stainless steel and accented with decorative brass and roped edges, it doesn’t get much better than this. Consisting of four pieces, these pauldrons are beautifully articulated. They have a uniquely shaped besegew to provide the wearer with underarm protection, as well as articulated plates to ensure a decent range of motion on the battlefield. The besegew is attached by leather thonging, and can be removed if the wearer wishes to fight without it.

Much like the rest of the Kingmaker Collection, you’ll find everything held together by solid brass rivets and adorned with laser cut brass edging. Inspired by the 15th century, these pauldrons incorporate a little bit of fantasy in the besegew shape, but are otherwise historically inspired. The pauldrons attach to arming points via a leather tab on the top, making them easy to tie onto your gambeson. A robust leather strap with period appropriate cast buckle will hold them to your arms, ensuring they stay in place when you swing your sword.

Part of being a noble is having the choice to create the set of armor that best suits you. Not a fan of our large pauldrons? Have a look at our small spaulders from "The Kingmaker" set, for extra coverage and protection. Don’t love the stainless steel? For a slightly more striking look, we have the leather covered version, which have all of the charm of our small stainless steel ones with the added bonus of visually stunning veg-tanned leather, available in a variety of bright colours.

I love this armor set! I work specifically in stage combat, and integrated this easily into my current kit. I purchased the arms and the large pauldrons, and they look great with the brigandine I already own. I will say, the images on the website do not illustrate just how bright of a mirror finish the stainless is polished to. I was expecting something closer to satin, but you could use this as makeup mirror if you felt so inclined. Additionally, the tongues on the buckles are sharp enough to draw blood if you're not careful. I had to go through and file them down to prevent potential injuries. All things considered, a quality product and I'm very happy with it!
