Gambeson “Dark Wolf”

Two-piece suede under armor padding

The “Dark Wolf” collection is masculine, stylish, and purpose-designed with combat in mind. We have crafted a line of armor and accessories that will fit you like a glove and help you conquer on the battlefield - and leave an unforgettable impression on your foes as well!

This is a gambeson, which is a padded base layer that is intended to be worn under armor to add some shock absorption to your outfit. It also works great on its own for lighter formats of fighting, such as LARP, training, or low-contact sparring. It also provides a padded layer for you to lace your pauldrons, arm harness, leg harness, and other armor onto via lacing cord and arming points.

This two-piece style gambeson was designed after many combat tests around coverage, maneuverability, and padding. We debuted our two-piece gambeson around two years ago, with this being a recent addition made from a new material with additional embellishments. Our two-piece style includes one piece that has padding for your arms and an unpadded chest portion which is short and similar to a crop-top, combined with a padded vest that covers you down to your hips.

The advantage of a two-piece gambeson is that it gives a fuller range of movement. When you raise your arms in a one-piece gambeson, the bottom of it rises up and exposes your hips. With this design, it’s much more likely to stay in place without giving your enemies a painful place to hit!

This gambeson is a premium item and constructed from strong suede, which gives it a very luxurious aesthetic. The edges are bordered with supple leather, and the arming points and buckles are also made from leather. Almost every line of quilting in the gambeson has been embellished with silver or gold cord, which has an amazing decorative look and really takes it to the next level. The buckles used on the vest straps will either be a black color or gold, whichever matches your choice of cord. The crop-top's chest and back parts are made from 100% flax linen to give it a bit of breathability, and laces up the front to sit flat on your chest.

This gambeson is made by our masterful seamstresses, who have decades of experience making finely tailored items. Every stitch is applied with care and checked over so you only receive our best work.

Please note: the arming point for attaching the legs armor on the current version of gambesons is realised with the leather patch on the inside and not on the outside for better fit.

    What can I say? You get exactly what you ordered. It comes as two pieces: vest and crop-top. The Dark Wolf gambeson is made with care, detail and commitment by the true masters of their craft. It's made of high quality cow skin, being natural suede. The quality and suede type not only makes it more resistant to damage caused by daily use but also makes it better at absorbing and distributing the energy received from blows. Its performance and durability is superior in comparison to average suedes. The only 2 minuses of suede are: - might be tad hard to clean if it gets dirty, - rain will damage it if it's exposed to the rain too often. Make sure to use water repelent if going out on a rainy weather! The crop-top's front and back is made of 100% flax linen (which is also a fantastic material) which gives your chest a perfect breathability for this crucial body part. It also keeps sweat at bay. It's really well-thought. So your sweat doesn't get in contact with the vest part. Choosing this light and beautiful gambeson you're trading some protection for high comfort, breathability and less weight and even less weight because average thick gambeson will get very heavy by absorbing your sweat. With Dark Wolf? I barely even feel have I have it on myself! Great job, Armstreet.
