Articulated stainless steel pauldrons with decorative etching
These classic pauldrons are suitable for a variety of time periods and look great as a “generic medieval” piece of armor. We’ve redesigned this popular design to have better articulation, be more durable in the heat of combat, and of course have new, fabulous etching.
These pauldrons consist of 5 plates and a rondelle. The rondelle is dished in a convex shape to help deflect strikes and prodive decent under arm coverage. The main parts of this armor are 1.5mm (16ga), whereas the smaller plates are 1mm (18ga), all stainless steel. Stainless steel makes excellent armor because it significantly reduces the amount of time you’ll have to spend polishing your armor and keeping it rust free! Just keep in mind that the solid rivets are made from mild steel, so you should still take care of your kit. Strips of thick leather on the inside of the pauldron make sure it’s robust and will stand up to impact in combat, reinforcing the rivets. A tab of leather at the top of each pauldron makes them easy to lace on to any gambeson or breastplate with a piece of leather thonging or cord. Robust leather straps are what holds these to your arms, and attractive cast brass buckles look period appropriate and add to the overall refined look of this armor.
The etching pattern on these pauldrons is exclusive to ArmStreet and created by one of our designers. Heavily inspired by the Hunt of the Unicorn Tapestries, it takes influence from Unicorn in Captivity 1495-1505. Unicorns are prominent in European folklore, and were considered to be fearsome creatures, equally dangerous and beautiful. We think that the image looks absolutely stunning on armor, and we hope you agree! If unicorns aren’t quite your thing, we also have our traditional floral etching available, which also looks excellent.
While we don’t recommend it, mild (cold-rolled) steel is also available for re-enactment maniacs or those who don’t prefer stainless steel. Keep in mind that stainless steel is much easier to take care of – etched armor maintenance on mild steel is a lot of work.

I’ve been looking at the Unicorn set and was wondering if there would be any way to bundle the set together? I haven’t been able to find it as a complete set.
