ArmStreet Patchwork Blanket

Large linen and cotton geometric rug

Are you looking for a gift for someone that you care about, but aren’t quite sure where to start? Or do you feel like there’s something missing in your life, but you’re not quite sure what? We present you with the perfect solution: a cozy blanket! This patchwork blanket has tons of different uses, and will be the perfect companion for camping trips, medieval adventures, and just around the house in general. It is eclectically designed and made by hand, and every blanket we produce is slightly different! You never know exactly what we’re going to get - though keep in mind we still create them with color compatibility and aesthetic design in mind. We came up with the idea for this blanket after we found that we were often left with strange shapes after cutting out dresses and other garments. This blanket was a creative way to reduce waste and make better use of our materials, whilst producing something that our customers will enjoy!

The blanket is 2.4x2.4m (7' 10 1/2" x 7' 10 1/2") – nice and big! – and consists of two layers (though please note it is not quilted). The top layer is made of vibrant 100% flax linen, which softens up wonderfully with time and feels fantastic next to your skin. Through a variety of different colors, a geometric pattern is created with triangles. The underside of the blanket is made from a robust 100% cotton, which is nice and hardy and will stand up to coming in contact with grass and soil much better than the linen. The edges of the blanket are expertly finished with bias binding to make sure it stands the test of time.

Have we mentioned the many different ways that you can use this beautiful blanket? It makes a wonderful Christmas or wedding gift, would be a great companion on your next picnic, or can just be draped over your shoulders to provide a little bit of extra warmth. It is a very useful item to bring along on medieval camping trips because it can be used to cover modern items, enhance your bedspread, or act as a wall hanging. The lovely large size of the blanket makes it incredibly versatile, and we have no doubt that our customers will come up with even more creative uses for it! This blanket comes in a patchwork bag with a drawstring, which keeps it safe and makes it incredibly easy to store.

I love this quilt so much. It's thin but heavy, and is perfect as a comfortable, breathable bedspread for a queen sized bed. The colors are somewhat random, but complementary and spread out evenly enough that it looks balanced. It's much more affordable than many designer linen quilts of this size, and is very attractive and well made. There is no batting. The cotton backing is random patchwork. The linen and cotton layers are connected only by the bias tape around the edges, but there's enough friction to keep the layers together. The only downside is that you can't put this quilt in the dryer, even for a few minutes, or it will shrink unevenly (due to having two different fabrics). I think this is a great idea to upcycle fabric that would otherwise go to waste.
