Articulated knee plates with decorative etching
If you’re looking for solid knee protection that has a great range of movement, plenty of protective coverage and beautiful decorative etching, you’ve come to the right place! Our Western Style Knees will be a great addition to your armor if you’re looking for something beyond a simple knee cop.
These knees consist of six articulated plates, giving you an excellent range of movement as well as outstanding protection. The knee itself is 1.5mm (16ga) stainless steel, while the smaller plates are 1mm (18ga). The stainless steel construction means that these knees require significantly less maintenance compared to mild steel – no more hours spent polishing your armor! The rivets are still mild steel, however, so a basic level of care is still required: we recommend wiping them free of any moisture after use.
The rondelles on these knees are dished in a convex shape, giving your inner leg decent coverage. There are holes in the top and the bottom of knee plate to allow you to lace it to the rest of your leg harness, or to your arming clothes. Thick leather straps are used to strap the armor around your legs, as well as beautiful cast brass buckles.
Over the years we’ve been perfecting the art of etching, and this is the best design yet. In medieval Europe, unicorns were considered to be fearsome woodland creatures. As dangerous as they were beautiful, they were viewed as the ultimate creature to capture on a hunt. The unicorn etching on these knees was inspired by “The Hunt of the Unicorn” tapestries, specifically “Unicorn in Captivity” from 1495-1505. The etching pattern is ornate and beautiful, adding a little something extra to these already beautifully designed knee cops.
If you’re not a fan of the unicorn etching, we also have our traditional floral etching, which we’ve been using for a number of years. Both motifs are beautiful and look excellent.
While we don’t recommend it, mild (cold-rolled) steel is also available for re-enactment maniacs or those who don’t prefer stainless steel. Keep in mind that stainless steel is much easier to take care of – etched armor maintenance on mild steel is a lot of work.

Percival Jr 20 of January 2021:Had to wait longer then usual due to international delays in shipping, but it was well worth it! These cops are incredibly beautiful to see in person, the photos almost don't do them justice. They are also very light, and with proper harnessing I barely noticed any hinderance in my leg movement as I walked around and ran in them. The leather straps and buckles are amazing quality and were very easy to break in, they were not incredibly stiff or incredibly frayed like some armor straps. Even more surprisingly the amount of noise it makes is actually very minimal, despite the layers of plate used for articulation, the noise they made was relatively minor. Overall I am super satisfied with this product, I am definitely going to be using it in LARP and re-enactment events for a very long time!

This armor set is beautiful and heavy and perfect. Nothing beats a set of real plate armor. My husband can't wait to wear this.

Guten tag! I absolutely love the artistic depiction of the Unicorn on the roundels used for these pieces. I am curious if it would be possible to order these with brass rivets instead of the standard mild steel and if that would impact the price at all. Many thanks!
