“The Wayward Knight” Boar Bag

Medieval bag with brass and enamel

This fantastic bag was made to go with our new Wayward Knight collection of blackened steel armor. The shape of the bag is generically medieval, and would look great with any costume based around the middle ages. It is a decent size and will hold most phones and small wallets with ease, meaning you can carry more with you! Bags were incredibly important in medieval times, because pockets had not yet been invented and they were the only way to store belongings.

This is similar to one of our older bags, but better in the best way possible: we have added a large brass panel and enamel. Enamel was a commonly used medieval technology and was used to make badges, crowns, plaque belts, and all sorts of fantastically adorned pieces.

The boar motif is an excellent symbol for a knight, lord, or even just a generic warrior. They were often used in medieval heraldry and mean a number of different things to different cultures, though a few themes seem to pop up time and time again: courage, war, and defence. Boars were fearsome creatures, responsible for killing many people, especially during hunts. The boar on this bag is an ArmStreet exclusive stylised boar design, showing a charging boar rushing through brambles. The texture of the brambles on the brass is repeated throughout the piece on the leather, set with deep, textural embossing.

We’ve used quality leather when constructing this bag. It can attach to your belt via two loops at the back, which allow it to hang down comfortably. Artificial sinew is used on all exposed stitching to give the bag a wonderful handmade look whilst keeping the materials appropriate to the middle ages. The bag is held closed both by the weight of the brass and by two leather straps that do up at the bottom of the bag with the help of two beautiful medieval buckles.

If you’re looking to match, we also have a new, enamelled boar belt, which looks equally as amazing as this bag.
