Gothic Leather Shoes Poulaines

Black leather shoes with curved toes

Authentic looking curved leather shoes will be marvelous finishing touch for your gothic costume. It is great footwear for any kind of fantasy or medieval style event, ball and live action role-playing.

Shoes are made of high-quality leather - soft and durable material. Less slippery modern rubber outsole is used instead of leather. The edges of the outsole are processed similarly to the ancient methods to achieve a leathery look. So it will be safe, reliable and historically looking footwear. Exceptional qualities of these shoes are accomplished with a modern shoe last. Coupled with the curved toe (which doesn't obstruct your moves) it turns these shoes into admirably looking and comfortable footwear.

Due to the long and narrow Gothic toes, the soles of these shoes are 8.5-10 cm (3.3"-4") longer than your foot length (depending on the size).

Historical reference:

These shoes are made in accordance to historically accurate design. A trend for shoes with pointed toes spread across Europe during the XIV century. It is most likely that this style takes its rise in Poland given that it is known under the name 'poulaine' (from the name of the country 'Poland').
Brought back from their campaigns by crusaders technical knowledge in shoemaking originated fashion for pointed shoes. Before long this footwear became a distinct reflection of welfare and social status of its owner. Domestic lords even edited different documents limiting the length of the toe in accordance to the social position and abundance of the wearer.
The popularity of the pointed shoes faded away at the end of the XV century and was replaced by the wide toe fashion also known as 'cowmouth' or 'bearpow'.

Hi, I'm shopping for a TV series called the Strain and we are doing a period scene and looking for shoes and boots with curled toes, as well as some of the other boots I see you make. Do you have anything already in stock or is it all custom built? Our timeline most likely won't allow for weeks of waiting so I am restricted to what you have on hand. Thanks!

    ArmStreet team:

We have several pairs of shoes with curled toes in Closeouts, they are ready to ship.

Hiya! I was wondering if there was any way you could make these shoes with a slightly thicker sole? I work at the Carolina Renaissance festival as a Harlequin, and its so freaking hard to find shoes that go well with the character! Haha. If not, thats fine since you have another pair of shoes im eyeing, but if at all possible you could...I would try and order some after labor day. ^_^ I ask for a thicker sole, because im slightly rough on shoes, and walking on rocks and dirt all day isnt that comfortable. hahaa.

    ArmStreet team:

To date we make these shoes with modern thick rubber outsoles, not leather. They are very durable and reliable.

I got them for a friend to wear to our wedding, they were made to measure but a bit small at first, that's probably fine since he's been wearing them in and they've stretched to fit his feet quite well. They are really well made and exactly what we wanted!
