Steel Demi-Gauntlets
SCA fighting leather-covered gauntlets
Demi-gauntlets are one of the oldest armor hand protections appeared in the Medieval Europe in late XIII − early XIV century and have been used since then in combination with chain mail or leather gloves. Even in XVI-XVII century with the rise of the popularity of the basket-hilts for the swords, we can observe demi-gauntlet resurgent.
The popularity of demi-gauntlets lays in the fact that they are providing great protection for the fist with the minimal sacrifice in the fingers dexterity. And with the little effort (as we did) they would provide a great appearance.
The basic material for these demi-gauntlets is 1.5 mm cold-forged stainless steel (16 ga).
Gauntlets are decorated with beautiful brass trimming and covered with split leather. These demi-gauntlets also have a wide belt on the palm side for the good flexibility.

- Wide palm-belt to ensure good fit and flexibility;
- Inner leather gloves are included.

Important note about measurements: please take into account that we need your measurements in padding gloves or other under-armour gear you are planning to use with these gauntlets. The only exception is when you are ordering gauntlets with inner gloves from our company — in this case you can provide your bare hand measurements.

how well does the leather fair in the rain/snow
The split leather is not waterproof, but you can always use a waterproof spray to provide protection from water and stain marks. If the item got wet, it should be wiped with a dry cloth and allowed to dry naturally. Do not place on radiators or use hair dryers, simply leave it in a place that is normal room temperature until it dries naturally. If you are going to continuously experience bad weather then we would suggest that you obtain some leather waterproofing products to help keep your items dry.
Hello! Can the metal part be silver colored? I see only steel listed as an option, so I assume it will be silver. Second, can you only get one? I would only need right hand. Thanks!
These gaunts are made of 16 ga (1.5 mm) stainless steel and covered with split leather on the outside. And gold color trimming on the edges is made of brass, it cannot be made of stainless steel, sorry.
